Clinical Reflexology - so much more than a foot massage....

Everyone is unique and each treatment is bespoke to each client.

Reflexology is a holistic therapy which means that I consider all aspects of you: mind, body and spirit. The whole person is treated rather than just the symptom. To support this process your first appointment will take longer as a full medical history is taken.

If you take a course of treatments I will discuss with you how you want to be supported and will create a treatment plan. Circumstances are continually changing so it is important that your treatments change to meet your needs.

Many people find life is a bit of a juggling and balancing act so it is important to take the time to re-balance yourself. Reflexology works through working with the body's own innate healing ability to help it to balance. Reflexology aims to help and support your body to acheive its natural homeostasis - when in balance your body systems work perfectly together promoting good health and well-being.

What to expect

Most people find Reflexology deeply relaxing. As the feet are worked some reflexes can feel a bit tender - tender reflexes indicate that the reflex is out of balance and it will be gently worked.

People are worried that the treatment will tickle - trust me I have the most ticklish feet ever and it really doesn't tickle!

The feet are wiped and ointment is applied. For foot reflexology the feet and leg up to the knee are worked. Sometimes some reflexes will also be worked on the hands as well. People can experience some buzzing or tingling which is good as it is a sign that your body is responding.

After the treatment people often feel very relaxed and sometimes a bit tired and thirsty for a short period of time.

Typical Session. working with Moxa

What is Moxibustion?

Moxibustion is a form of therapy originating from China that is believed to add energy into the body so can be very supportive for chronic conditions. In Reflexology treatments I use indirect Moxa where acupressure points and reflexes are warmed with the Moxa stick. It is a very safe and effective. It is also claimed to boost immunity and is perfect during the Autumn and winter months when the weather is chilly.
